What is Informatics Practices?
Informatics practices, also known as IP in short is a subject offered in Class 11 and 12 classes in CBSE-affiliated schools all over India. This subject is introduced to develop computing and programming skills among students. This subject can be opted by students of any stream in Class 11 but is generally offered to commerce and humanities students of schools. In Class 11 , this subject provides chapters on basics of Computer system , Python programming , database management and emerging trends, however in Class 12 it focuses on data analysis using python, SQL functions, Computer Networks and Societal impacts.
This subject helps enhance problem-solving and logical thinking and prepares students for the digital world. Is informatics practices the same as computer science?
No, computer science and informatics practices are two different subjects offered by CBSE at the senior secondary level (Class 11 and 12). Computer science is offered primarily to Science stream students but can also be opted by commerce and humanities students. Computer science syllabus covers Python programming concepts in more depth as compared to informatics practices. In Class 11, the Computer science syllabus includes chapters on Computer system organisation, Python programming, and Society, law and ethics and in Class 12 its syllabus include Functions, File handling, Stack , Computer Networks and Database Management.
Is Informatics practices (IP) hard or easy?
Informatics practices is a very easy and interesting subject to study and a good number of students score full marks every year in CBSE Board exams.
